Hey everyone! How is everyone doing? Recovered from our LONG and LUXURIOUS summer yet? Yeah, me too.

I thought I’d let you know about a cool event coming up this weekend. Alberta Arts Days are in full swing, and the Edmonton Poetry Festival is doing its part to represent E-Town’s cadre of poets. There are a bunch of readings this weekend, happening at Government House – that large historic building on the grounds of the Royal Alberta Museum. You can see & hear some of E-Town’s finest! Here are the details:

Alberta Words

Come celebrate Alberta Arts Days with “Alberta Words” at Government House, courtesy of the Edmonton Poetry Festival and the Government House Foundation. Not only will you hear great poets, novelists and storytellers, but they’ll be performing in the Alberta Room – the big chamber at the very top of historic Government House, which is where the caucus holds its meetings. It is very rarely open to the public, so this will be a special occasion.

Performers include Marty Chan, Mary Pinkoski, Stephanie Benger, Mike Gravel, Anna Marie Sewell, Alice Major, Bert Almon, Shirley Serviss, Pierrette Requier, Tom Wharton, and Jenna Butler. For a detailed schedule of who’s reading when, check out the Royal Alberta Museum’s event listing for more information.

There’s also the Government House art collection on display – some amazing pieces – and arts-related activities going on throughout the weekend in the Royal Alberta Museum, just across the driveway from Government House. Hope to see you there!
