Buy a classified ad in The Magpie
The Festival’s monthly newsletter, The Magpie, now carries classified ads. You can buy a classified ad by making a $10 donation. Follow these steps to place your classified ad in The Magpie.
- Head to our CanadaHelp’s page to make your $10 (or higher, if you want) donation. You will automatically receive a tax receipt for your donation. Here’s the link to our CanadaHelp’s page:
CanadaHelps.org/en/charities/the-edmonton-poetry-festival-society - Enter your donation amount, and below the heading “Send a message to this charity (optional)”, in the field “Thanks for all the great work you do!”, type the words “Classified ad”.
- Want your logo next to your ad? Make two donations.
- When you’ve made your donation(s), send your ad to The Magpie’s email address, magpie @ edmontonpoetryfestival.com, with the words “Classified ad” in the subject field.
- You have a maximum of 50 characters for your ad headline, and a maximum of 250 characters for your ad text.
- Please proofread your ad. If you want your logo next to your ad, remember to attach it to your email. The file format should be either jpg or png.
- The Festival reserves the right to reject an ad if it deems the content to be unsuitable or containing misogynistic, racist, homophobic, and/or otherwise hateful or offensive content.

Contribute to The Magpie or support the Festival
Events Listings: Send your upcoming Alberta poetry events to marco [at] edmontonpoetryfestival.com
Poetry Competition: Be featured in The Magpie! Submit a poem to our new, random draw and your poem could be selected and published in a future newsletter, and featured on our social media accounts! Only entries from Edmonton Poetry Festival members will be accepted. We accept one submission per person, per submission period both published and unpublished, but the onus is on you to ensure you have copyright. All work should be original (please, no Tennyson or AI)!
Poems should be less than one page long, and include your name and a brief bio (50 words max.). We will not accept submissions containing misogynistic, racist, homophobic, and otherwise hateful content. Send your submissions to abbigail @ edmontonpoetryfestival.com by midnight Alberta time on the 25th of each month. We’re looking forward to reading your poems!

Five Answers: A Q&A for poets, and we’re looking for contributions! Poets select five questions from our list of 17. Interested? Send a note to magpie @ edmontonpoetryfestival.com with your bio and links to any publications, and we’ll be in touch.
Through the Poet’s Eye is open to poets and readers of poetry. Poets are invited to write about how they see the world or life and how this influences their poems. Or write about how your poetry has evolved over the months or years or how specific poems have evoked thoughts and feelings or affected you in some way. Interested? For readers wanting to submit to Through the Poet’s Eye, share how one or certain poems have affected you. Have they comforted you, influenced your thoughts or feelings, affected your perceptions, or challenged you? How does poetry add meaning and value to your life?
