Spring 2017 Poetry Moves on Transit Call for Submissions
The Edmonton Poetry Festival is looking for poems about “How Poetry Moves You” to travel on the city’s buses this summer.
In this round of Poetry Moves we’re asking for poems about movement! How are you moved by Poetry? Are you a new Edmontonian with a story to tell through poetry? Does poetry take you places? What vehicles move you? Any way you can riff on the theme, we want to receive!
Six poems will be chosen from the submissions, and the contest closes May 26th, 2017.
“Your poem can be about anything that moves you. We want to learn about your stories.” says Rayanne Doucet, executive director of the Edmonton Poetry Festival.
The festival organizes the bus poetry project with support from the Edmonton Arts Council.
Submission Guidelines
Poems should be:
- A maximum of ten lines and ten words per line (including line-breaks/spaces – remember, space on the bus posters is limited)
- Your own work (Previously published poems are accepted)
- In any form
- Poems are judged blind by a jury. Include your name in the email – NOT on the poem document.
Winners will receive an honorarium of $100 and a copy of the poster on which their poem appears. Poems ride city of Edmonton buses for 8-12 weeks.
We strongly encourage members of First Nations, culturally diverse, and LGBTQ communities to submit!
