Fall 2019 Poetry Moves on Transit Call for Submissions

It’s time to submit to the fall 2019 leg of Poetry Moves on Transit!

The contest is open to all residents of the Edmonton region. Four poems will be chosen by a blind jury. Winners will receive a $100 honorarium, as well as a copy of the bus poster.

In each round of Poetry Moves on Transit, 800 poetry posters circulate for 8-12 weeks on major bus and LRT routes throughout our city. We’ve learned that each poem is read some two million times—what better way to let your words do the work they were born to do!

This open call encourages poetry submissions on any theme, however, you may choose to respond to this round’s guiding theme, which is “listening.” At the break of the decade, there seems to be more noise around us than there ever was. How do we learn to listen to ourselves, to others, to the city, and to the land? What’s speaking from under all that concrete?
