Poetry Central is your chance for a lunch-time poetry meet-up in the downtown! Watch some of Edmonton’s emerging and established, page and stage poets, have a short-order poem written for you on the spot, and pick up festival information or a free poetry book.

  • Liam Coady

    For Liam Coady, artistry – like life itself – is about bringing forces together and making meaningful connections. A national team poetry slam champion and former finalist of the Canadian Individual Poetry Slam, he has been a featured performer at festivals and showcases throughout the country. His newest work This Love Is Mad Reciprocal was recently published by Glass Buffalo and is available for purchase.

  • Nisha Patel

    Nisha Patel is an Indo-Canadian spoken word poetry author, artist, public speaker, and writer in Edmonton, Alberta. She is the inaugural 2018 Nook Café Artist in Residence.

  • Luciana Erregue-Sacchi

    Luciana Erregue-Sacchi is a Canadian Argentinian art historian, art educator and poet. Luciana’s poetry and research deals with the connections between memories, nature, art and immigration She lives in Edmonton, Alberta and “lives the life ekphrastic,” thinking constantly of images.

  • Lisa Mulrooney

    Lisa Mulrooney lives and writes in Stony Plain. She is the President of Parkland Poets and an active member of Edmonton’s Stroll of Poets.

  • Timiro Mohamed

    Timiro Mohamed is a local spoken word poet. She is the co-author of the chapbook Water and a national spoken word semi-finalist.
