Poetry Central is your chance for a lunch-time poetry meet-up in the downtown! Watch some of Edmonton’s emerging and established, page and stage poets, have a short-order poem written for you on the spot, and pick up festival information or a free poetry book.

  • Celine Caruso Dixon

    Celine Caruso Dixon: I have been performing poetry for about 4 years now and have truly seen myself evolve with my style. I now use my poetry to talk about issues that face me in my day to day life. Poetry for me, is the place to start a conversation with people.

  • Micheal Jensen

    Micheal Jensen is a St. Albert based poet who has been performing for 5 years. Their work is described as transient and deeply personal.

  • Darian Rose Selander

    Darian Rose Selander is an Edmonton based poet recently graduated from the University of Victoria.

  • Julia Sorensen

    Julia Sorensen is a University of Alberta English major who writes articles, stories, and songs, but considers herself a poet first and foremost. She has performed at everything from open mics to professional performances to slam poetry competitions, has work published in an anthology, and self-published two poetry chapbooks.

  • Grayson Thate

    Grayson Thate is Edmonton’s Youth Poet Laureate. When he isn’t writing, Grayson is studying physics at the University of Alberta, and doing advocacy and education work within LGBTQ+ communities.
