Bus Poem Winners and YEP Meetups
With Mother Nature defiantly thumbing her nose at your most earnest wishes for an early spring, we at PoFest central have a couple of announcements to make.
First: The latest winners in the ongoing Poetry Route project have been announced! These four winning poems come to us from students in the Edmonton area. The poems will circulate on ETS buses and LRT cars for a minimum of eight weeks, starting the third week of February. Congratulations to the winners, and a special thanks to every student who submitted their work to this round of The Poetry Route! Check out the winning poems here.
Second: Have you heard that Edmonton’s Youth Poet Laureate is none other than the smashing Nasra Adem? Where have you been? One of her first acts as YPL was to create a series of youth poetry meetups designed to get fledgling and veteran poets alike on the stage. You can read the details here, and spread the word to any aspiring verse-hounds you might know.
And hey, don’t forget that the Edmonton Poetry Festival runs from April 16 – 23, 2017. We’re cooking up a great festival! All will be revealed in time.
As always, thanks for reading.
